Giannina Gutierrez

My work is a collection of experiences, observations and curiosities, expressed through the raw body of materials. The process to me being just as powerful as the resulting work, my work speaks about the power of being, purpose, and exploration. Through painting, sculpting, assembling and manipulating both natural & recycled materials, I contemplate the possibilities of the materials at hand to express my thoughts and emotions. The work is about exploring the connections with our natural world, considering our symbiotic relationships. We are all connected beyond our understanding, my goal is to visually and viscerally capture the dance between the seen and the unseen, the intangible essence, movement and beauty of life. I incorporate the human female form, animals and flora imagery, representing the power of the feminine archetypes found across cultures, as they relate to earthly elements. I create imaginary landscapes that invite the viewer to wander, wonder, and contemplate.
